Chapter 1. Getting Started

Why BookmarkBridge is Free

BookmarkBridge is an open source program. Visit the Open Source Initiative at www.opensource.org for more information on open source products and their many benefits. BookmarkBridge is a free program. Open source enthusiests like to say "Free as in speech; Not as in beer". This refers to our freedom to modify open source software in any way we see fit. As with any open source product, the source code to BookmarkBridge is freely available. If you are so inclined, and possess the necessary skills, you are free to poke around under the hood and make any changes you wish. As with most open source products, if you wish to distribute your modified version of BookmarkBridge to others, you must also be willing to provide the source code to your changes.

I wrote BookmarkBridge in the hope it would be useful to many people and organizations. You are free to modify and use it any way you see fit. As with most open source products, I have placed a few restrictions on this freedom. Please see the Appendix A - End User License Agreement for more information. The license agreement is the Free Software Foundation's GNU General Public License. You can find out more information about them at www.fsf.org.
